Lucha Royale a Roaring Success!

Did you catch the latest Lucha Royale show at The WA Italian Club? Maybe you spotted it mentioned in The West Australian or your local paper? Did you hear the interview on RTRfm? This latest show has been a roaring success, and as always, Lady Velvet Cabaret are proud to be a part of such a unique and explosive show!

Our lovely Lady Velvet Cabaret performers got to perform alongside amazing artists like Amoura, hypnotic bellydancer, Hannah Conda, extraordinary drag performer, and the jaw-dropping Scooby Circus! Our own Minnie von Spin, Bella Bowtie, Lady Lace, Celeste Nouvelle, Lele LaBelle and Sugar du Joure wowed crowds with diverse and incredible acts, including rock bogan hula hoops, touching mime-inspired burlesque, tantalising martini glass temptations, mind-bending feats of contortion, aquatic tap dancing, and the debut of the popular and memorable 'walrus' burlesque act! Stealing the show (literally) was Lola Moore, who came out on top, beating the professional EPW wrestlers at their own game and taking out the title of winner of the inaugural Lucha Royale Random Rumble - goes to show just how versatile our lovely girls are! Thanks must also go to the gorgeous girls from Beehives Gogo who provided nonstop high-energy entertainment during the interval and even started an audience dance-floor!

Lady Lace had a charming stall alongside local artist Sylvia Sippl, and delicious sherbert lollies, Kustom Cupcakes and hot popcorn were for sale as well! The talented Distorted Lenns photography will have event photos up soon, and we just can't wait to share them with you.. for now, you can catch some sneak peeks from fans and staff!

GOGOFIT Monthly Workshops in full swing!

Our exciting GoGo Fit Monthly Workshops are proving to be both popular and fun! Providing a great cardio workout, along with fun music, a friendly atmosphere, and lessons about GoGo history, costume, and tricks of the trade! Lessons are fast-paced and start off with a great cardio workout, followed by the learning of fun GoGo moves which are eventually incorporated into a full GoGo routine to a real 60's song!

GoGo is a high-energy dance style and intensive workout, which is all about having fun! Historically GoGo dancers have provided entertainment and atmosphere to concerts, music videos and live events, and are still popular today!

The lovely girls from Beehives Gogo live and breathe sixties style, and pass their infectious enthusiasm on to their students, with lessons about the origins of GoGo moves, videos of GoGo stars (check out Lada St. Edmunds Jnr!), and the best tips on hair, make-up, clothing and footwear!

Our March workshop theme was ANIMAL INSTINCT, and students came decked out in their wildest animal print and learned a fantastic routine incorporating moves like The Monkey, The Pony, The Seahorse and The Octopus!! Our next workshop is French themed, so get planning those fantastic outfits, we can't wait to see you there!

Our graduates shine at the Burly-Q Revue!

Sunday the 25th saw the debut of our incredible graduates at the Burly-Q Revue! For weeks, our talented ladies have been working hard at their Lady Velvet Cabaret Academy of Dance & Cabaret classes to put together the fantastic show! Featuring in the show were students of Dancing with Props, Cabaret Showgirl, Burlesque Bump'n'Mix and Burlesque Starlet classes, alongside their inspirational instructors! Fresh from successful shows at Fringe World, Miss Burlesque WA and Miss Pin Up Australia, Lola Moore, Bella Bowtie, Sugar du Joure and Lady Lace graced the stage in support of our hard-working students, some of whom performed bravely as duos or even soloists! Once again, YaYa's in Northbridge hosted our exciting show, filled to the brim with a raucous and enthusiastic crowd of supporters and fans.

A big thank you to those who attended, and congratulations to our gorgeous graduates - you blew us away with your talent and enthusiasm, we hope to see you all again soon! Don't forget our new Advanced Burlesque course (open to Burlesque Starlet graduates) begins next week!

Congratulations Miss Burlesque Australia state finalists!

The beautiful Bella Bowtie...

Another year, another exciting state heat of the Miss Burlesque Australia competition!!

Here at Lady Velvet Cabaret we were so excited to have not one, not two, but three finalists in this year's WA heats. We are so lucky to have so much talent in one troupe!

This year promised to be bigger and better than the last, and it sure delivered, with the addition of the incredible Boylesque division in this year's competition, featuring our good friends Jon Madd and Johnny Domino, who blew the audience away with their mouthwatering masculine acts!

This year our representatives were the three delectable divas Bella Bowtie, Sugar du Joure, and Monet Petite.
All finalists faced fierce competition this year, with some of Perth's most talented dancers and burlesque artists participating. It made judging particularly difficult for our very own Vita Flame, who sat on the panel along with a number of representatives of Perth's thriving burlesque scene!

Monet Petite's incredible 'unique' act.. so many layers!

We would like to congratulate all the performers who participated, especially those who won, namely Johnny Domino (who won the first ever Mr Boylesque WA title!), and Ruby Delure who won this year's WA heat! The lovely Ruby Slipper came second, and enchanting Cecile Mimieux placed third!

We would especially like to congratulate our very performers, Bella, Sugar and Monet, who put a huge amount of time and effort into this year's heats, with Sugar and Monet both placing in the top six, earning them the opportunity to perform their 'unique' acts in front of the sell-out crowd!

Sugar du Joure, simply radiant.

We are so proud of our talented troupe, and applaud Bella Bowtie, Sugar du Joure and Monet Petite on their outstanding performances. Well done to the prize winners, and to all the girls (and boys) who performed, and supported each other, demonstrating true respect for each other and dedication to their craft. We wish all our girls the best of luck in their future shows and endeavours, especially Monet Petite who is soon to be jetting off interstate, as well as Lady Lace who will soon be travelling to compete in the national Miss Pin-Up Australia heats.

With Love,
 The Lady Velvet Cabaret Team

Our Fringe World Adventures!

What a busy and exciting start to the year! We here at Lady Velvet Cabaret have been kept very busy throughout February with the fantastic Fringe World festival! With eighteen shows, our fabulous performers were very busy - often performing twice or more in one night!

Some of our Burlesque Garden cast, including our handsome stage manager!

Our troupe participated in two shows, both at the beautiful Treasury venue in the heart of the Perth CBD. For many years a deserted and damaged building, the Treasury was once more brought to life, but rather than filling its halls with tax office workers, Fringe World filled them with fun and frivolity, and thousands upon thousands of excited and enthusiastic ticketholders! Audience members at our Burlesque Garden shows in the Treasury Cabaret were rewarded for their fashion-forward clothing by our host Lucinda Panties, who gave away one best dressed prize per night to our fashionable followers! Lucinda also took our audience members on an enchanting journey through Lady Velvet Cabaret's Burlesque Garden, featuring everything from the daintiest butterfly to the most wild and seductive Poison Ivy. Our performers wowed crowds over six shows, many of them completely sold-out! Read a review of our Burlesque Garden show here.

Audiences held their breaths watching Celeste Nouvelle
We also featured in the incredible Lucha Royale, a fast-paced, physically demanding and hilarious Mexican wrestling show! Our troupe teamed up with flipping, flying masked Luchadores to present a fun and crazy show, interspersed with delicate contortionism, breathtaking burlesque and sexy snake dancing! Lucha Royale thrilled thousands of audience members in its 18 show sell-out season at Fringe World, and we hope to see lots more of our lovely audience members at Lucha's full-length shows at the WA Italian Club (the next one is June 16!). Click here to read a review of the Lucha Royale.

Probably the most exciting news from Fringe World is of course the results of the hotly contested Fringe World awards! We are proud to announce that the Lucha Royale has been awarded the Perth Now People's Choice Award! We are so pleased with all our performers, whether members of Lady Velvet Cabaret, Azure Entertainment or EPW Perth, who put in a huge amount of effort night after night to make the Lucha Royale the best it possibly could be! Thanks must also go to our awesome audience members who cast their votes for us as their favourite Fringe World act! Congratulations to all the other award winners for their respective categories, and we can't wait for next year's festival! Read more about the Fringe World Awards here.

Much Love,

The team at Lady Velvet Cabaret
